Patulin Patulin is produced by mold of the Penicillium and Aspergillus species. Contamination with this mycotoxin mainly occurs on rotting fruits, such as apples and peaches. Patulin is suspected to be carcinogenic. As patulin occurs mainly in fruits and fruit juices which are often used as baby or infant food, some countries have established regulatory limits. Quantas Analytics plans to establish an analysis method for this mycotoxin which will use high performance liquid chromatography with variable wavelength detection. |
